Authentication & Legalisation of Documents (Notarial Services)
Legalisation of a document is usually required by Jamaican authorities before they allow a foreign document to be used for official purposes in Jamaica. Legalisation is the official confirmation that a signature, seal or stamp on a Brazilian public document is genuine. Legalisation in no way attests to the authenticity of the contents of a document but merely to the seal and signature of the issuing authority.
Only documents that have been authenticated by the Ministry of External Relations (Itamaraty) will be accepted for legalisation.
The most common documents that are legalised by the Embassy are Certificates of Free Sale (for certain chemical and pharmaceutical products to be accepted for sale in Jamaica)
